SUMMERVILLE — Storm spotters are needed by the National Weather Service and Dorchester County is offering a training session.

Spotters help local weather service forecasters by providing real time information on severe weather outbreaks, supplementing technology. SKYWARN training by weather service staff has instructed several thousand volunteers across the country, according to a county news release.

The training takes place March 19, 6:30-9:30 p.m. in the county human services building, 500 N. Main St., Summerville. To register or for more information call Theresa McKnight at 832-0341.
